We decided our roles within the project. I will be in charge of collecting evidence (video) and collating it with the video editor. I will also be mixing our tracks once everybody has finished composing.
20/10/2020
Begun composing my track for the EP. I have the main guitar part written.
2/11/2020
Jamming with the band to write and practice material. Filming the process and updates.
20/11/2020
I now have a mixed draft of my track. I will be checking with other members to see how their tracks are coming along and find out when I can begin mixing.

Reduced time on campus means we are unable to practice, write and record together. Instead we’ve been polishing up the structure and sound of our tracks at home.

Jorge, Dylan and I went into the studio to record a live, acoustic version of Dylan’s song. I was in charge of the recording process, while the two others performed the song. This involved setting up a pro tools session, choosing and positioning microphones and using the mixing desk.

I’ve mixed the acoustic track that I recorded with Dylan and Jorge. I completed a first draft, shared it via teams with the others to get feedback, then went back and made tweaks based on said feedback to create the finished product.
Jorge has sent me the stems for his track so I will begin working on mixing this.
20/12/2020
First draft mix of Jorge’s track is complete. Getting feedback from the band in order to finalise the mix.
5/1/2020
Jorge’s track is finished and ready for mastering. I will be chasing up other member of the band for their stems.
15/1/2020
Have started to mix Dylan’s track. I may need to request some stems to be sent over with fewer/ no processing done beforehand.
30/1/2020
I’ve uploaded the first draft mix of Dylan’s track to teams.
10/2/2020
Gathered feedback from the others in order to produce a final draft of Dylan’s track. It is now ready for mastering. I’ve asked Jorge to record some vocals on my track and to give Josh’s track a mix, in order to meet deadlines.

I’ve set up an Instagram page for SQUASH? – this is where we will do the majority of our promotion for the upcoming EP. I’ve written a short bio and set our profile picture to our band logo that Dylan designed.

We’ve selected a short clip of our acoustic music video to upload to Instagram as a sort of teaser for the upcoming single. The caption includes the release date of the track and hashtags chosen to reach our target audience. These include ‘#guitar, #poprock, #indie and #alternativerock’.

Another post on the Instagram page. Just some pictures of me, Jorge and Dylan recording in the studio at CAVC. The caption is a reminder that the single will be released in 6 days.

Our group have been communicating with Fader Events – virtually and in person – to figure out the logistics of performing some of our tracks live and getting recordings. These talks encompassed things like stage set-up, required equipment and safety issues such as masks and social distancing.
20/4/2021
We have performed and recorded 3 of our songs live. I played guitar for ‘Bliss’ and bass for ‘Trying to Stay Young’ and ‘Alone Together’. As well as performing I helped to set up some of the equipment. I hooked up the DI box for the bass and piano, the amps for guitars and some of the microphones for both guitar cabs and vocals.

Updating my work log for the collaborative project.
